Ethiopia Hambela Natural

An intricate, delicately composed natural-processed Ethiopia, rife with berry and exotic aromatic wood notes.

Coffee Review RATING: 93

Origin: Hambela Wamena District, Guji Zone, Oromia Region, southern Ethiopia

Coffee Review RATING: 93

Notes: Southern Ethiopia produces distinctive coffees from traditional heirloom varieties of Arabica long grown in the region. This is a “natural” or dry-processed version, meaning the beans were dried inside the fruit rather than after the fruit has been removed, as is the case with wet-processed or “washed” coffees.

Blind assessment: Delicate, fruit-forward, deeply sweet. Blueberry, rhododendron, sandalwood, blood orange zest, roasted cacao nib in aroma and cup. Sweet, lightly juicy mouthfeel; full, satiny mouthfeel. The gently drying finish consolidates to a cocoa-toned sandalwood.

The bottom line: An intricate, delicately composed natural-processed Ethiopia, rife with berry and exotic aromatic wood notes.
